We had several very sucessful events in Wisconsin (and one in Chicago) last week in support of our book tour for The Master Cheesemakers Of Wisconsin. Here is a very brief set of photos from our events:

I was lucky enough to meet Christine and Curt a few years ago, when I photographed their lovely wedding. Now that they are expecting their first baby, we had a great time walking all over the Guthrie theater for some maternity photos.
As part of my “portraits with a heart” sessions to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma society, I had a great time photographing baby L in his first big photo shoot. He was born this summer to a friend from my days at summer camp, and I was so happy to be able to spend time with Sarah & Chris and their new baby. Also, I love all the faces he makes!
I had a great time taking photos of Brandi in downtown Minneapolis last week. We found a nice balance of serious, classic, and fun.
I am so happy to announce that “The Master Cheesemakers of Wisconsin” book is published and now shipping!
In the winter and spring of 2007, my husband James Norton and I traveled all over Wisconsin interviewing and photographing Wisconsin’s master cheesemakers. While Jim wrote amazing profiles of these cheese makers and their stories, I had the chance to document cheesemaking in large and small plants, meet some goats, taste fresh curds and whey, and photograph some of the worlds largest blocks of cheese. This coffee table book, published the University of Wisconsin Press, contains it all!
It is currently shipping from Amazon, and should be available in local bookstores soon. We are also planning some local book signings in Minneapolis and all over Wisconsin, so check back for dates.
Jason and Steph contacted me to take some photos of the two of them, just for fun. We chose Como Park as a fabulous backdrop, and they even brought their amazing dog for more fun!
I just got back from a great family reunion in Maine. We have been thinking it would be our last summer reunion for the last 4 years, but somehow we still manage to get together for a big lobster dinner at my sister’s house.
The food is always great, and the pie made with fresh wild Maine blueberries is a must!
And then there are the lobsters:
At one point, I had a light with a blue gel off to the side accenting a bike in the background, and another light off to the side. I said “this is really cool, but also a little out there” to which he said “awesome.”
Ian and I spent some time in downtown St Paul, found a cool parking lot, spent some time in a decaying yellow alley, and generally took some cool portraits for his high school senior photos.
I had an awesome time with TJ in downtown St Paul (along with his brother and step brothers, more photos to follow!) TJ plays the drums, and really liked the urban aesthetic, so we found a few fabulous alleyways to shoot in.
