Kate & Bret’s wooden chapel, cajun band & barn wedding

Kate and I went to the same high school and Bret is an accomplished hobbyist photographer, so I knew that the stakes were high when they hired me. They also live in Florida (with Bret’s university and interesting mouse research – awesome!), and planned the wedding in southern Wisconsin. Luckily for me, they had a very dramatic sky, tons of fun friends, and a totally killer location, complete with a wooden chapel and an old wooden barn for the cajun band – they made my job so easy and enjoyable! Thanks so much for choosing me, guys, and good luck with all the researching!

Kate & Bret – preview

Kate & Bret had a lovely Wisconsin wedding, and while it may have been a little cool for them, the weather was perfect for photos! Here is a little preview before I finish editing the rest!

Family reunion at the Lake

The good side (and difficult side) of being a photographer is that you can’t turn it off, so when my mom’s side of the family got together near Racine, Wisconsin this July, I took the opportunity to take some family photos at the lake.

Leah & Charlie – Majestic Theater Wedding

Leah and Charlie chose the renovated Majestic Theater in Madison as the location for their vintage inspired wedding. Leah and Charlie both work in the professional theater world out in LA, so they designed and built the steps up to the stage, and I am pretty sure I heard Charlie talking about the lighting design right before the ceremony! Thanks for letting me be a part of your day!

Tricia & Dan’s fabulous summer wedding in Madison, WI

I am so happy for Tricia & Dan – not only was their wedding gorgeous and their adorable children, but they found each other in the first place. After the ceremony in the Janesville Rotary Gardens, they were totally inseparable – Dan kept picking Tricia up and giving her kisses, not to mention all the times he dipped her! We had a great time with the (large!) wedding party at the Memorial Union, then the Capitol Building, and then the Monona Terrace, where they had their reception!

And here is the funniest thing I have ever seen a group of guys do during a wedding reception – fake double dutch jump roping. It cracks me up just to write about this, but they had two guys slowly speed up with the fake ropes while standing opposite each other, while the other guys take turns jumping in!

Cheesemaker photos in catalog of farmstead creameries

I am so excited that several of my photos are appearing in the Wisconsin Master Cheesemakers and the Specialty and Farmstead Dairy brochures for this year from the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board. Many of these photos were taken during the research for “Master Cheesemakers of Wisconsin” which will be on bookshelves starting in November.

Tina & Jesse – post wedding session in Madison

I had a wonderful time with Tina & Jesse in Madison a few weeks back. They were married earlier this spring (yay!) and wanted some more photos of just the two of them. I hadn’t had the chance to shoot much inside the capitol before since it is not a great place for whole wedding parties, but it was to be able to play around in such a cool building, and Tina and Jesse were great sports!

Kate & John – Madison at it’s classic best

I had the pleasure of photographing Kate and John’s wedding in Madison in June. Kate and I went to high school together, and it was great to meet John and see some familiar faces, but it was mostly wonderful to hang out with them and photograph their wedding. We trekked to the Allen Centennial Gardens on the UW campus, then onto the Wisconsin Memorial Union (a favorite haunt of mine) and then to the Wisconsin Capitol. Thanks for having me along for the ride!
