Some of you may have heard about the independent wedding fair I am participating in, but I am so excited to formally announce the upcoming Something New: Independent Wedding Fair this February 6 at the fabulous Five Event Center in Minneapolis.

The event is meant to showcase a group of hand-selected vendors that are all locally owned and independently minded. Tickets are now available, and I will post more updates in the coming months.

Rebecca emailed me about a month ago to plan a session in Madison as part of the benefit sessions for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. As we were discussing locations, she suggested that we go to the Dane County Farmer’s Market, which is a fabulous market circling the entire Wisconsin Capitol. I thought it was a great idea, so we met up early (gotta get there early to avoid the crowds!) on a Saturday for a more lifestyle/photo-journalistic couple shoot with Rebecca & Andrew.

We had several very sucessful events in Wisconsin (and one in Chicago) last week in support of our book tour for The Master Cheesemakers Of Wisconsin. Here is a very brief set of photos from our events:

We love thanksgiving, which is why we go to at least two dinners on thanksgiving day and at least one more thanksgiving during the year (usually in February). We had a little thanksgiving preview a few weeks ago for Jim and the folks from the Heavy Table, and it seemed fitting to show a few of the decorations now.

I hit it off with Tiffani and AJ the first time we met at their house – we ended up talking for hours about all sorts of things, some of them wedding related. Anyway, fast forward to October, and they had planned a joyous high-energy celebration. Their reception was in the Harriet Island Pavillion, a stone art deco boat house overlooking the St Paul Skyline, there was lots of dancing, and a whole mound of mashed potatoes (which I especially loved!). Tiffani and AJs friends and family all pitched in to help with the decorating and little details, including a “HE MAN” themed grooms cake! Thanks for letting me be a part of your wedding, I am so happy for you two and your future together!

I was lucky enough to meet Christine and Curt a few years ago, when I photographed their lovely wedding. Now that they are expecting their first baby, we had a great time walking all over the Guthrie theater for some maternity photos.

Kayla & Robert are very fun folks, and I am so excited that they chose me to photograph their May wedding in Madison. But before that, they wanted engagement photos amidst the fall leaves. We were able to find a day without rain (difficult this year in Wisconsin) for photos at the pheasant branch reserve in Middleton. I can’t wait to photograph you two again in May!

I can’t wait to finish editing through all of Nikki & Kevin’s fabulous wedding photos. From Nikki’s gorgeous dress to the reception at Jax cafe, everything was a blend of vintage style and comfort. Here is a little preview:

As part of my “portraits with a heart” sessions to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma society, I had a great time photographing baby L in his first big photo shoot. He was born this summer to a friend from my days at summer camp, and I was so happy to be able to spend time with Sarah & Chris and their new baby. Also, I love all the faces he makes!

Jennifer & Aaron were surrounded by fun people, a gorgeous day, and decadent locations for their wedding in September. We played around the Mill City Ruins park and St Anthony Main before heading to the Loring Pasta Bar in Dinkytown for their gorgeous and classy wedding ceremony. Then, a short walk to the Varsity Theater, certainly among the most unique venues in the Midwest for a wedding reception. What can I say – the food was great, the ambiance was lively, and everyone was laughing and dancing – it was lovely!
