Megan & Tom – A Wedding at Macalester College

I was lucky enough to photograph Megan & Tom’s classy and unique wedding at Macalester College a few weeks ago. They had a perfect day out – sunny and warm with a nice breeze, and we were able to take a lot of photos out on the grounds.

They had a bagpipper to play in arriving guests on the grounds of the college.

The ceremony was lovely and emotional.

Afterwards, we took more photos on the college grounds before heading for the reception.

The reception at Macalester featured desserts so good I want to eat them again, as well as home brewed beer for party favors and a lot of little touches.

After the meal, Megan and Tom had hired a favorite comedian to perform for the guests. The topics ranged from food to music to general midwest living, and there was much laughter.

Emily & Matt’s Engagement Photos

Matt and Emily were great to work with for their engagement session down in St Paul. We were at Mears Park, and spent some time in the cool old buildings around there.

The park is such a gem in St Paul, and I love the little river with stones that runs through the middle.

Then we went into the alleys around the park for something a little different.

Carol & Tyler

Carol and Tyler were married about a week ago, and here are some of the photos from their wedding! Carol did a fantastic job of choosing small vintage elements to really set the style of the wedding.

They chose to not see each other until the ceremony, but I took some photos ahead of time of each of them.

The ceremony was very nice (and the shortest catholic service I have been to!).

After the ceremony, we took lots of photos of the family in the church, and also of the bridal party. The church grounds were especially pleasant!

After that, we went to the reception. The toasts were emotional and lovely.

And then there was dancing!

Melissa & Mark Engagement

Even though the Spring has been undependable, we had lovely weather for Melissa & Mark’s engagement session last weekend. We went to the Landmark center in St Paul for photos.

I was especially happy for the nice day, because we also took photos with their son. He is a runner!

We were able to slow him down enough for a few photos with the family.

We were even able to take some photos outside, which was the first time all year!

Jolene & Brian

A little over a week ago I was fortunate enough to photograph Jolene & Brian’s wedding about 1 hour north of Minneapolis. It was a very fun wedding with some beautiful touches. Jolene got ready on her parent’s farm, which made for some lovely backgrounds and also a lot of tractors (I think 30 is not an over-estimation!)

Jolene had a lovely dress with a very long and ornate train! It was really a gorgeous day out, and I especially loved the lilacs in the bouquets.

This shot on the tractor is one of my favorites! All the bridal party were good sports about pulling out the tractor and jumping up on it in the field.

We took lots of formals at the church, here is one with all the parents!

And here is the ring bearer, who was on very good behavior all day, being a little gentleman in front of the bridesmaids.

Now, sometimes friends will gather at a bar between the ceremony and the reception, but it felt like all the wedding guests made it to “the Muni” for a few beers. I was able to coral some of them (including a lot of the parents!) for this photo.

The reception was a blast, and the cake was gorgeous.

And Jolene and Brian were a load of fun with their dancing!

St Louis Park Specialty Beer Store Opening

This last week, my husband Jim and I drove out to a new specialty beer shop in St Louis Park called “Four Firkins.” I am not a huge beer drinker, but any conversation with the owner will make beer seem a lot more interesting and we left with a new appreciation of wit beer, and many bottles of various other things.

My husband is writing up a little post about the new store for City Pages online, and so I was drafted to take some photos of the store.

Lastly, I took some photos of some of the beer we bought. I especially like that our cat posed as a prop for this larger bottle.
